The illustrious visitor was welcomed by the LGW’s representative, Karlla Kwatty, by Pedro Paulo Torres, from the institutional relations of Super Radio Brasil, and also by the students of the Good Will Ecumenical Children and Youth Choir, who sang songs of welcome.

The illustrious visitor, accompanied by press officer Caroline L. Reis, was welcomed by the students of the Good Will Ecumenical Children and Youth Choir. During the visit, he got to see for himself the whole of the educational unit that attends 678 students aged from 1 to 14 on a daily basis. It offers them fulltime education from the nursery school to basic education, as well as the educational line created by educator Paiva Netto, the LGW’s President, which allies Brain and Heart.

“First, let me thank you for the opportunity to be here with you. I wasn’t expecting such a good school, which has been structured with the Goodwill of everybody involved, as the name itself suggests. Besides being cute, the children are practicing a lot of sports and studying every day. I got very impressed,” he stressed.

U.S. Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, James B. Story, interacted with the students and asked them about their day-to-day life in the school.

During the visit, Mr. Story also made a point of emphasizing the importance of the LGW's support for the martial arts social projects offered to young athletes from Rio communities, which are also supported by the Super Radio Brasil and by Prime Esportes: “We’re already working together in the community of Providence and elsewhere, which the LGW is supporting. It’s very important because these communities need something for the children to do after or before school. Sports really give children the opportunity to learn discipline and practice something healthy,” he added.

Within its pioneering Sport is Life! campaign, the LGW develops various activities for valuing the practice of sport, the objective being to offer children and young people yet another healthy option, so they stay away from the dangers of the street. It also provides their parents and/or carers with full peace of mind while they are at work. The LGW sees sport as a very important tool for promoting socialization, encouraging the discovery of new talents, working on discipline, team work, respect on and off the court, and, above all, good values.
