In the first week of July, the Legion of Good Will (LGW) is participating in the High-Level Segment of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), at the UN headquarters in New York, United States. During the meeting that is taking place from this Monday (July 2) until Monday (July 9), authorities and representatives of member countries focus on “Promoting productive capacity, employment, and decent work to eradicate poverty in the context of inclusive, sustainable, and equitable economic growth at all levels for achieving the Millennium Development Goals”.
In fact, the subject of the meeting was widely discussed in March during the 9th Multi-stakeholder Forum of the Solidary Society Network (9th MFSSN)—6th Innovation Fair, promoted by the LGW in several cities of Brazil, aside from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Portugal and the United States, with the participation of different segments, such as civil society organizations, government bodies and representatives from the academia and several companies. The multi-stakeholder meetings had the support from the United Nations Information Center for Brazil (UNIC-Rio), from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), and from other UN agencies and funds in Latin America. At the ECOSOC High-Level Segment 2012, the LGW presents the results obtained from the 9th MFSSN, like the proposals and recommendations of the participants (identified from their own practical experience), and mainly an innovative social technology, as experienced by the Legion of Good Will.
